Opinel No.12 Explore Folding Knife with Tick Remover

The French-made Opinel No.12 Explore Folding Knife with Tick Remover is a contemporary folding knife inspired by the iconic Opinel No.8 folding knife. The No.12 Explore packs several essential outdoor features into the traditional folding knife form, including a robust blade, a cutting hook, a whistle and a tick remover.

The handles of the No.12 Explore are very rugged and made of hard polymer charged with fiberglass. This material can weather rough jobs, extreme temperatures and moisture.

This knife is perfect for everything from hunting, fishing and hiking to setting up camp and cooking by the fire. It is also equally at home with DIY projects as out in the woods.

The blade of the No.12 is 4-inches long and 1.06-inches wide. Its dimensions and its sharp point ensure accuracy in cutting for large and detailed work alike. It is made from high-quality European stainless steel hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of 55-57, optimized to ensure corrosion resistance and superior performance. This razor-sharp blade holds its edge, even when used with hard materials, ensuring a lifetime of performance.

The grind of the No.12's blade is convex, which minimizes contact between the sides of the blade and the material being cut, prolonging the sharp edge's life. This grind also makes the blade extremely strong and allows Opinel to put a remarkably sharp edge on it.

The whistle built in to the heel of the handle is 110 decibels, and is a very effective signal to get you out of a scrape. The hook at the end of the blade can slide into the handle for safety and reveal the lanyard or clip loop.

The tick remover, which slots into the end of the No.12's handle is a must-have for hikers, campers, fishermen and gardeners. It is also effective at removing ticks from your dog. It allows you to grip a tick without crushing it and remove it completely with a twist (rotate and lift). It has two different sizes of openings to grab ticks of any size. This plastic tick remover is easy to clean.  

The blade of the Opinel 12 locks open for use or closed between jobs with Opinel's patented Virobloc safety ring, which is a stainless steel ring that rotates into position and keeps the blade securely in place.
