Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
Swiss Knife Shop is committed to making swissknifeshop.com usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation. We regard accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project, and we work to improve the experience continuously.
Conformance standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures we take
- Automated accessibility testing runs against our storefront templates on every code change, using axe-core alongside a source-level accessibility linter. Error-level findings are triaged before release.
- We completed a dedicated accessibility remediation of our storefront theme in June 2026, covering keyboard focus order and visibility, image alternative text, form labelling and error messaging, heading structure, colour contrast, ARIA usage, and screen-reader landmark navigation.
- Accessibility requirements are included in our design and development process for new pages and features.
- We periodically commission third-party accessibility scans of the live site and track the findings to resolution.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. We are aware of the following and are working toward resolving them:
- Third-party applications. Some functionality on our site — including product reviews, search and discovery, back-in-stock notifications, and live chat — is provided by third-party applications that inject their own code into our pages. We have reported the accessibility defects we have identified to those vendors, but we do not control their code and cannot always correct it ourselves.
- Platform-level code. Our store runs on Shopify. A small number of findings originate in Shopify's own platform code rather than in our storefront, and can only be resolved by Shopify. We have raised these with them.
- Customer-supplied content. Photographs and text submitted by customers in product reviews may not always include alternative text or meet contrast requirements.
