The Opinel No.08 Swordfisherman Limited Edition Folding Knife features the iconic art of San Francisco-based artist Jeremy Fish on Opinel's iconic outdoor adventure tool. This knife features an 8.5 cm (3.28 inch) blade that locks securely into place, and folds neatly into the custom handle between tasks.
There are only 7,000 pieces of this iconic knife available worldwide - and only 700 in the United States. Each one comes packaged in a custom gift box with a leaflet explaining its story.
The knife designer, Jeremy Fish, has a signature style of folklore, pop culture and comic art. His Opinel collaboration brings together the legacy of his grandfather Fish, who was a traveling knife salesman, and his grandfather D'agostino, who was a master woodworker, a knife collector, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
The handle of this knife, made from hornbeam wood, features a whimsical beret-wearing swordfish, and the fish's "sword" extends out onto the engraved blade.
This knife is a replica of the largest Opinel knife in the world, which is in the Versus Skatepark in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, in the French Alps, birthplace of Opinel. While our version is only 7.59-inches long when fully opened, the knife in the skate park rises nearly 20 feet high, and has an impressive 7.72-foot long blade.
The timeless Opinel Number 8 is the perfect size for everyday carry. It is the knife model that started it all when Joseph Opinel introduced it in 1890.
This knife is perfect for everything from setting up camp to cooking by the fire, and is equally at home with DIY projects as out in the woods.
The blade of the No.08 is crafted from sharp, easy to maintain stainless steel with a convex blade grind, which minimizes contact between the sides of the blade and the material being cut, prolonging the sharp edge's life. This grind also makes the blade extremely strong and allows Opinel to put a remarkably sharp edge on it.
Crafted in the French Alps, this folding pocket knife features a tinted and varnished beechwood handle laser engraved with an image inspired by the national park of your choice on one side, and the name of that park on the other. It is made from wood sourced from sustainably managed forests in France, and is contoured for a comfortable grip.
The blade locks open for use or closed between jobs with Opinel's patented Virobloc safety ring, which is a stainless steel ring that rotates into position and keeps the blade securely in place.
Caring for your Opinel Knife:
Hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife in water, as this could warp the wooden handle. Dry the blade before closing, as carbon steel has very low resistance to corrosion. Wipe the blade clean after use and oil it frequently.Features of the Opinel No.08 Swordfisherman Jeremy Fish Pocket Knife:
