The Rebar begs comparison to the similarly sized old PST, but as a much heavier duty version. The Rebar tools are comparable to the PST with the addition of a sheeps foot serrated blade, saw, and improved awl while loosing the smallest screwdriver. The Rebar file has deeper single and cross cuts allowing it to used as a small woodworking rasp. Like the PST the Rebar tools are all inboard, but all Rebar tools are conveniently locking from the back of the grips. The additional tools make the Rebar slightly wider but more comfortable in hand. The most notable feature of the medium sized Rebar are the much larger pliers with replaceable cutters that are as good as my dedicated cutters. There is also a crimping tool on the reverse end of the pliers. The addition of the lanyard ring is a plus for keeping the tool in hand and the sheath is large enough to accommodate the ring and lanyard. Comparable in size to the PST, the Rebar is much more versatile, a very good heavy duty pliers tool in a small four inch package.

I bought my first Leatherman tool in the mid 1980’s from Tim Leatherman at a Sporting Goods trade show. It is still going strong. I just bought the Rebar because of the additional tools and the replaceable wire cutter blades. Excellent quality & functionality.
