    Mishandling

As always I was pleased with the beautiful attention to the exquisite fit and finish of every tool in the knife. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the "ding" in the middle outer edge of the handle scale on the Swiss emblem side, right out of the box! Apparently at some point it was mishandled prior to or during it's placement in the box. This is not the norm, and I will continue to collect your knives so long as I don't encounter this problem again. Sincerely, Scott Beers

    This is MY knife

I received my first Victorinox Ranger in 1971. It has been my every day carry knife for the last 54 years. This purchase is my fifth replacement. None of these knives have ever broken or become damaged in any way. It just seems that every decade or so - give or take - someone wants my knife more that I or it falls out a hole in my pocket or aliens dematerialize it for transport back to their planet; I’m not really sure which but once my knife “goes walkabout” it generally never come home. So, yes, I really highly recommend this knife as a perfect combination of size and functional efficiency.

One suggestion: this knife and its immediate predecessor both had both sides the file edges cut to the top of the blade. The files on the older models had the top edges of the blade comfortably rounded over. It’s not really a problem. A grinder bit in a Dremel tool takes care of it nicely and makes the closed knife eminently more comfortable in the hand.

    Great knife

Glad I ordered 3 before you take the blade out of them. Shame that a handful of snowflakes ruin things for the rest of us.

    Swiss Army Ranger Knife

The Ranger is my new favorite Swiss Army knife. It's a lot less clunky to carry than my Champion, and it nestles into any corner of my day bag, waiting to be useful.
