The Alpha Guide's upswept drop-point blade is full-bellied and has a strong, thick point well suited to even tough tasks. The top of the blade drops down (giving it its name), which minimizes accidental punctures. The flat grind of the blade facilitates long, sweeping cuts, and the full tang handle gives this knife exceptional strength and control.
The blade of the Alpha Guide is made of Buck's MagnaCut steel, as this material has exceptional corrosion resistance, hardness, toughness and wear resistance. It is an exotic, powder metallurgy stainless steel, and does not have any performance tradeoffs like many other steels.
Buck's exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC59-61 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.
The textured handles and blade's jimping provide a firm grip, and the handles are removable for easy cleaning when the job is done. A lanyard hole at the end of the handle and a black Kydex sheath with a belt sheath provide a variety of carry options for the Alpha Guide Elite.
