The Alpha Scout's drop-point blade is full-bellied and has a strong, thick point well suited to even tough tasks. The top of the blade drops down (giving it its name), which minimizes accidental punctures. The high, hollow grind of the blade facilitates long, sweeping cuts, and the full tang handle gives this knife exceptional strength and control.
The blade of the Alpha Scout is made of Buck's S35VN martensitic stainless steel, as this material has exceptional corrosion resistance, hardness, toughness and wear resistance. Buck's exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpen when needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC59-61 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.
The handles of the 662 Alpha Scout Pro come in two options: Walnut Dymalux or Richlite, both of which offer superior grip, even in wet conditions.
