The blade of the No.8 is made from high-quality European stainless steel. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of 55-57, optimized to ensure corrosion resistance and superior performance. The razor-sharp blade holds its edge, even when used with hard materials, ensuring a lifetime of performance.

The grind of the No.8's blade is convex, which minimizes contact between the sides of the blade and the material being cut, prolonging the sharp edge's life. This grind also makes the blade extremely strong and allows Opinel to put a remarkably sharp edge on it.

The blade locks open for use or closed between jobs with Opinel's patented Virobloc safety ring, which is a stainless steel ring that rotates into position and keeps the blade securely in place.

Caring for your Opinel Knife:
Hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife in water, as this could warp the wooden handle. Dry the blade before closing.
