This Victorinox (formerly Forschner*) 3-Piece Essentials Cutlery Brown Box Special Set, available for a limited time only, features three staples for any kitchen - the award-winning Victorinox 8" Chef's Knife, the Victorinox 4.5" Serrated Tomato / Bagel Knife, and the Victorinox 3.25" Classic Paring Knife.
The Victorinox 8 inch Chef's Knife features a Fibrox handle and extremely sharp blade that holds its edge.
The patented Fibrox handle is dishwasher safe and slip resistant, even when wet. It is also NSF approved, as crevices that would offer hospitality to bacteria are minimized. As with all Victorinox knives, the handle is ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension and provides a natural fit.
The Victorinox (formerly R.H. Forschner*) 8-inch Chef's Knife won the distinction of Best Value in the April, 2007 Cook's Illustrated test. Testers for this popular consumer magazine summarized their review by saying, "This is exactly what a knife is supposed to be."
Once again in the August, 2009 Cook's Illustrated, "While it's easy to blow your budget on a fancy chef's knife, the inexpensive, lightweight Victorinox Fibrox remains the test kitchen favorite."
Add custom engraving to the knife blade and / or custom embossing to the handle of this award-winning Chef's knife for a gift or for identification.
The Victorinox 4.5" Tomato/Bagel Knife and the Victorinox 3.25" Classic Parer feature NSF-approved polypropelene handles with minimal cracks to harbor bacteria. The tomato/bagel knife is also well-suited for use as a steak knife. The classic paring knife with its tapered tip is ideal for carving out the eye of a potato or the blemishes on a peach. In the garden, these paring knives are ideal for making cuttings, as well as light pruning on soft material.
All Victorinox kitchen knives all have high carbon, stainless steel blades that are hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. Each knife is stamped from a single sheet of metal. The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground, polished, etched and finished. Victorinox uses a special tempering process to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again.
