Recommend everybody should own one! Review by Knifes

I am the owner of not less than 25 Seiss Army knifes of various designs. I never leave home without one in my pocket.
The Champ is my daily carry - this order is to replace on recently lost. Carry one in each of my 3 vehicles, my tool box, hobby station, garden shed, garage, kitchen - never far from one. Given as gifts to my grandsons, nephews, brother & soninlaw's. (Posted on 2/13/2017)

Best knife I've ever owned. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Review by Isolder74

I've owned one of these since 1993 and I've used it for almost everything. Over the years I've slowly worn it out but it has held up masterfully against everything I've ever thrown at it. Sadly I've finally managed to break the blade working with it today but I know as soon as I have a chance I will be getting me another on to replace it. There is a use for every bit of it and when you think you've found every use for one of the tools you'll come across a new one.

Best knife I've ever owned. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! (Posted on 2/3/2017)

Dont' leave home without it. Review by Lee

I have owned 3 of these over the past 30+ years.
It seems to take me approximately 10 years to abuse something on it enough to to warrant buying a new one.
Each time my wife has claimed the damaged one for her use; one in her purse and one for her home tool kit.
Prior to my wife having one it always seemed to be needed behind the scenes at nearly every wedding we attended.
I always carry it with me.
Whenever anyone says "wow, that's a big knife" I tell them "it's not a knife, it's my toolbox".
Two or three times over the years I have left home without it, but have always turned the car around to go back home to get it.
It once (accidentally on my part) made it through airport security in my backpack.
I once accidentally had it on me when going through airport security; but rather than hand it over, I exited the line and buried it in a planter outside, It was the longest week of my life. I retrieved it on my return; good as new.
I cannot recommend it more highly. (Posted on 12/9/2016)

i had a broken large blade, they colud not repair it, so they are replacing it Review by leo

great product,i do not remember how long I have had my swiss army knife over 45 years, and have used many years,i think one of my sons gave it to, my baby is almost 40 (Posted on 10/10/2016)

Outstanding product! Review by Bob from Baltimore

Just bought 2 of these -- one for myself and one for a gift. It has the "heft" of quality, and the individual tools operate like one would expect from an instrument of the highest quality. It's pricey, but it's certainly worth the extra cost of some of the lower priced models with fewer implements. It exceeded my highest expectations -- I couldn't be more pleased. Name says it all - Champ! Review by Airborne

As a Paratrooper with the 82d Airborne, I got my Blk Champ for the pouch on top my K-Bar knife's nylon sheath and it fit perfect. It's extreamly rugged and really holds an edge, using it for everything and more than you can imagine for 8 yrs in the Army. The only tool I didn't think I would use was the forked "fish hook remover/scaler/ruler" thing - It turned out to be the most useful tool of them all and I never caught a fish!

Now my K-bar / Champ combo are part of my survival kit everytime I hunt in AK. It has so many memories I was afraid I'd loose it so I bought a 2nd Champ to wear on my belt all the time, but lost Champ #2 moving. Bought Champ #3 to replace #2 and someone took it at work. Going to get my 4th Champ to replace 2&3. Wish I could find another Black one because the Wood Champ looks to cool-someone will steal it for sure.

What a super great Knife and the name says it all - Champ! (Posted on 3/11/2016)

First Class Knife Review by jwalker

Ordered this knife in the sapphire blue with the x-large brown leather pouch for a Christmas gift. My daughter was more than pleased. Beautiful knife. Pouch fit perfectly. My only problem was the Post Office. The shipping box was seriously damaged resulting in the individual boxes for the knife and pouch being unusable. The leather pouch was flattened. Fortunately, the knife is durable enough to withstand the abuse. I think it could have gone either way. (Posted on 12/28/2015)

Perfect fit, finish, usability, and thoughtful design. Review by Bill

I have used this knife and other S.A. knives for over 35-years and there are no other knives with the perfected fit, finish, and quality. This one is going into a survival kit I am assembling for my son who does much long distance travel - the range and usefulness of blades and tools are unmatched. BTW, when Karl desired to open a knife factory he wanted to name it as a contraction of his beloved wife Victoria and the Swedish word for steel - Victorinox - as wonderful a tribute as a man could extend to his dear wife. And probable why these excellent knives have been around for over 100-years. (The high carbon, no stain, surgical steel alloy blades help also!) (Posted on 10/16/2015)

A lifelong companion Review by Robert DeBeaux

I have owned a Champ for nearly 20 years. I have found the other smaller models work well, but there is no comparison to the versatility of the Champ. I have had 3 before the Christmas of 2013, the first, I thought I would carry around in my pocket. That turned out to be uncomfortable, and I eventually stopped carrying it and lost it. I bought another, and decided to carry it on my key ring. Due to the Champs weight, I had to take it off the key ring or risk damaging my ignition or creating dings in my doors. I stopped carrying and eventually lost it. The third one I bought, because I missed the versatility, I have worn on my belt with a leather holster for over 15 years. It is banged up, beat up and the tweezers, pen and tooth pick are long gone. The blade has been sharpened so many times it is nearly concave. The only time I do not wear it is when I must go fly or thru metal detectors. I find that if I can't find a knife or scissors or that "odd" tool, there is something on the Champ that will do the job. My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I reached to my waist and showed her. She bought me a new Champ, complete with leather holster with sharpener. The holster is still too tight to use until it shapes to the new knife. I am still using the old knife today, and I really do not want to get rid of it. I might use the new one as a ceremonial dress up or bequeath it to my son. Thanks for an awesome product. (Posted on 1/21/2014)

ZermattSwitzerland Review by UncleBob

I bought this product at the base of the Matterhorn, in Zermatt, Switzerland. Incredible place! It was one of my best purchases. If you don't have one for yourself, YOU are missing out. Buy one for a friend! They will thank you twenty years from now.
Five stars plus!!! (Posted on 11/14/2013)

Rugged Review by Joey

I've owned a SwissChamp for many years. I just ordered my third leather belt pouch. I use and wear this knife every waking moment. I work on cars and electronics and find that I use every tool available. I've had smaller knives of all brands and wouldn't be satisfied with anything else but a SwissChamp. All tools and blades are easy to find and pull open. This knife is very rugged and built to take abuse. If I lose this knife, I will certainly order another. (Posted on 10/4/2013)

Might not be a full-size MT, buts it's the best pocket MT around Review by Red

I own several SAK's, one swisschamp, and one swisstool. Swisstool, of course, is the most heavy-duty. But, Swisschamp is still an extremely versatile tool for me...and what I EDC often (and can be carried in the pocket if necessary...can't really say that about any larger MT's w/ less tools). Though, I still carry mine in the XL Zermatt pouch quite a sheath I've ever owned. (Posted on 7/20/2013)

Best Knife Ever Review by FurnaceGuy

You'll feel incomplete without it. Review by KevLinc56

This knife grows on a person. I feel necked when it’s not with me. The variety of tools comes in handy in so many settings. I used it just tonight when I had to reset my cable modem. The ballpoint pen fit perfectly. The blade material has that stainless finish and its hardness is perfect so it is durable yet not brittle and it really holds an edge well. Once a person gets used to this knife/tool being available they’ll feel incomplete without it. I do recommend using the handy belt pouch as it takes some getting used to when it’s in your pocket.

Best EDC multitool I've owned and carried Review by Old Mac

I own a Swisschamp and a Swisstool (both purchased from this site)...and though the Swisstool is designed for 'hard use' purposes, I carry the swisschamp everyday. It has vastly more useable toolset, it's lighter, and the Zermatt pouch I carry it in may be the nicest leather sheath I've seen since my old Leatherman PST (possibly even nicer). I've added a LED light to the key ring for even more use.

Some would call the swisschamp light duty...don't listen...if you own this tool and use it you'll quickly realize it's at least medium duty, and in many situations just as heavy duty as a large multitool.

One last note...many criticisms on the web regarding the small pliers. True, they are much smaller than regular MT pliers, but I've found I need actual pliers on my belt very rarely, and even then its generally for pulling something...and champ pliers have excelled thus far (more like tweezers on roids). Best overall knife Review by Old Reliable

I have owned a Champ since they came into the USA around 1985, and still have the Original, which is slightly different than the ones today. I'm getting ready to return the original for rebuilding, with instructions, not to update the features.
The S.S. Steele used is excellent, it holds an edge even as bad as I abuse a knife in my old work place of Auto repair and tool & Die work. All the tools work like there supposed to. I have 3 champs, the first 2 I used for work and have broken the knife tips,(My fault), but the Blades still hold an edge. All the tools, including the saws, are still sharp. My 3rd one is a NO work knife, that I carry with me every where,it's a new one, only 11 years old, and still looks new..
the only thing I wear out are the Holsters, so I'm ordering and going back to leather Holster, with the snap. Velcro is OK IF YOU ONLY REMOVE THE knife, on average once or twice a day( 2 Velcro holsters only lasted about 11/2 years). I remove my Champ(from the Holster), at least a Dozen + times a Day.
If someone wants a High Quality Knife, I Highly recommend Victorinox.. You can always pass it down to your Grandchildren..

It's a good knife Review by Lawrence C. Hatcher

I had a Ruby handled Swiss model several years ago that was a good practical knife but after the handle came loose, I retired it in 08 for a Leatherman Juice CS4.

A co-worker showed me his Leatherman and that's what sold me. The Leatherman was okay and the needle pliers, saw, and scissors were great / The downside was the screwdrivers were hard to get to and I wasn't always sure which was the cutting blade. Honestly, I missed having a traditional pocket knife, so after a few years I started looking.

My Ruby Swiss Champ has the winning features of my Juice except the pliers are no where near as strong as the needle nose pliers on the Juice CS4. However having the strong pliers resulted in sacrificing the smooth design that the Champ has because the only way Leatherman could get such a strong pair of pliers was to integrate the pliers into the design of the handle. It was a good knife and served me well but the Champ has a few more tools such as the pen and magnifying glass; and I can get the screwdrivers out easily and I instinctively know which is the cutting edge of the blades. I like this knife. Oh yeah, this is VERY important. I ordered it like maybe on a Thursday and it was at my home by Saturday or Monday. It's a good knife and I had it engraved because I look forward to having it the rest of my life. (Posted on 10/2/2012)'s a victorinox Review by Carani

Best Swiss Army Knife Across the Board Review by Scott

Of all the knives I've researched and owned, this is the best one in value, utility, size, and awesomeness, for a very reasonable price. I use it several times a day, and I feel safer knowing that no matter what problem arises, I can handle it with my knife. It fits easily into any pocket, but all the tools are big enough to get the job done. Great buy, one if the best purchases I've made. (Posted on 6/18/2012)

Without question the best! Review by Scotto

I received this knife as a gift 12 years ago (a replacement for a smaller Swiss) and it occaisionally earns me the title of "MacGyver". Being an IT field engineer and instructor I am in a lot of different situations and environments where the need for tools arises unexpectedly. The SwissChamp has never let me down and there isn't a tool that has gone unused. People are always amazed when they ask "do you have a (pick a tool)?", and immediately the knife comes out of my pocket with tool at the ready. This guy has a lot of miles on it, is scratched, dented, chipped, has a few parts missing or broken and is ready for retirement but is still serving well. No other knife can take its place. A must have! (Posted on 3/15/2012)

Does it all, very well! Except... Review by CBS4

You've heard it all before: Five stars. Quality craftsmanship. Does it all. Use it many times a day. Have had mine for decades. Couldn't live with just a smaller version.
A couple new ones: Accept no imitations! (Victorinox or nothing.) Can be used as a light duty hammer or shim adjuster in a pinch.
One thing it CAN'T do: Make it past the TSA agents at the airport. (Forgot to put it in my checked bag! Plane was boarding. No time to mail it.) Which is why I recently bought a new one. (It really hurt to throw it in the trash!! But, it went out in style. High arch shot... Never touched the edges.) (Posted on 2/19/2012)

Absolutely amazing knife!! Review by TOXIC AURA

Though I have only had this knife for a small period of time. Since the day i got it in the mail i have not seen a day i havent used it at least twice. This knife has everything you could ever want in a knife and more. For anything you need done it can do it. And i must say each tool does not lack in use due to the multi-tool layout. you can use each tool with ease and full function. I always have it on me regardless of what i am doing. Seriously consider this knife. (Posted on 4/7/2011)

Saved me from serious embarassment Review by Contractor

Have had my Swiss Army Champ for nearly 20 years. Best gift I ever received.
Still have it , and even though it is banged up with the philips screw driver somewhat broken from opening and closing an aircraft panel, and a broken tip on the metal file/saw, it all remains useful.
The one thing that saved me the most was the metal file/saw and tip. I locked myself out of my locker after getting drunk, and with just a towel after a shower. All I had to get back into my locker was the Champ on the bed.
Took me three to four hours of steady filing and sawing of all the rivets off a Master padlock and prying the steel laminations apart to break the lock and get into my locker in time to go to work. (Posted on 2/5/2011)

Must to have Review by Dmitry

I've being a happy owner of this knife for nine and a half years... until I've lost it three days ago. Still have a weak hope to find it - but I won't be able to stay without such great survival tool. I've got in in Duty-Free store in Zurich airport in May 2001 - it was a time when you could do that...

Used practically everything.

What I would recomend to improve in it? To make a small screwdriver two-ended - small Phillips is very practical. To include one or two spare toothpicks into the original package - that's what getting lost quite quickly (or weared). I had to buy another pouches twice - velcro lock becomes "old and tired" in three to four years - may be, magnetic lock could be more practical?

Again - I'm going to get a new one not longer than in a week (if my old one - with a half-eaten toothpick, missing mini-screwdriver, broken spring for scissors - but favorite, favorite, favorite!!! won't be found...) (Posted on 1/5/2011)

Wish it was smaller Review by El Guapo

ive had this knife for 4 years and it amasing. It has thousands of features, (extagerated), and is very sturdy and durable. It has almost no dents or scratches on it. but it is very big and bulky so sometimes its uncomfortable to hold. (Posted on 11/18/2010)

Pretty awsome Review by jorje

I have had the knife for about 4 years and it has not failed me on any fishing trips, camping trips and hunting. This knife was the only one out of all of the other knives i saw because you dont need a barometer, 9 or 10 different screwdriver, or espessially and extra nail file. This knife is worth its money and is not filled with excess gear and it already has all the neccessary things a knife should have. (Posted on 11/18/2010)

The Big Mac Daddy Of Swiss Knives Review by Shubooti

The SwissChamp simply does most everything. Every time I think about getting another (lighter) model, I try to decide what tool I can do without . . . and always decide I want/need 'em all. Mine has engraved translucent ruby scales and is still scratch free after long hard use. A SwissTool goes along for the bigger jobs, but I nearly always reach for my SwissChamp. I even find the SwissChamp scissors to be the best tool for clipping my fingernails, clipping my cigar, and hundreds of other uses. I have many more Swiss Knives, but the SwissChamp is the one that always goes along daily, sometimes accompanied by the SwissTool if I anticipate needing something more powerful. The only addition I could think of to round out the SwissChamp would be an on-board LED light - other than that - it's perfect! (Posted on 5/21/2010)
