The Victorinox (formerly Forschner*) 7-Piece Block Set features 2 Forschner knives with Fibrox handles and extremely sharp blades that holds their edges. In addition, it includes 2 Victorinox paring/vegetable knives with nylon handles, a pair of kitchen shears, a 9" honing steel and a slant hardwood oak block for storage.
The patented Fibrox knife handles are dishwasher safe and slip resistant, even when wet. They are also NSF approved, as crevices that would offer hospitality to bacteria are minimized. As with all R.H. Forschner knives, the handles are ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension and provide a natural fit.
This set includes everything the home chef needs:
- 3.25 inch paring knife with nylon handle
- 4.5 inch tomato / bagel knife with nylon handle
- 5 inch mini chef's / utility knife with fibrox handle
- 8 inch chef's knife with fibrox handle
- 9 inch honing steel
- Kitchen shears
- Slanted oak knife block for storage
Forschner knives all have high carbon, stainless steel blades that are hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. Each knife is stamped from a single sheet of metal. The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground, polished, etched and finished. Victorinox uses a special tempering process to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again.
The R.H. Forschner 8 inch Chef's Knife won the distinction of Best Value in the April, 2007 Cook's Illustrated test. Testers for this popular consumer magazine summarized their review by saying, "This is exactly what a knife is supposed to be."
