The Replica 1897 Limited Edition Swiss Army Knife by Victorinox gives you a chance to hold a piece of history in your hands. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first Swiss Army Knife, Victorinox has created this true replica of the original Officer's and Sports Knife invented by Karl Elsener back in 1897.
Legend has it that in Ibach, Switzerland, at the worldwide Victorinox headquarters, employees recently found a long-forgotten time capsule buried behind rolls of steel. They brought it to Carl Elsener, the great-grandson of Victorinox's founder, Karl Elsener, and opened it to reveal the original Swiss Army Officer's Knife from 1897.
To honor this origin story, the Replica 1897 is packaged in a Victorinox-red eye-catching "time capsule" housed in a distinctive box printed with the knife's story.
While to the naked eye the Replica looks exactly like the original knife, it has been created with the latest in technology.
The handles of the 1897 are made from a red vulcanized fiber with a warm, comfortable grip. "Elsener Schwyz" is etched on the largest blade, and "Gesetzlich Geschutzt" (protected by law) is etched on the screwdriver, which was one of the stand-out features of the knife in 1897. The pointy small blade on the knife is the same shape as the original, as are the corkscrew and can opener.
Also engraved onto this knife are the year 1897 and the individual serialized number of each individual piece. A certificate of authenticity still further sets this knife apart as a unique collector's edition.
Only 9,999 pieces of this collector's item are available worldwide.
