Leatherman Tools, Made in America Since 1983

Each and every Leatherman multi-tool is made in Portland, Oregon, USA, home of Leatherman's founder, Tim Leatherman.

From the first tool made by Leatherman back in the early 80's, the PST, to the tools rolling off the line today, every one is proudly made in America.

    An Invention Born of Necessity

Leatherman tools were born from necessity. When founder Tim Leatherman was traveling in Europe on a shoestring budget in 1975, he and his wife found themselves in some tricky situations, including leaky hotel plumbing and engine troubles.

While Tim and his wife Chau had a simple scout knife packed, Tim found himself wishing time and time again for pliers to get him out of trouble.

Leatherman's desire to combine the utility of a knife with that of rugged pliers led him to create the prototype of the first pliers-based multipurpose tool when he returned to America, and the Leatherman Tool brand was born.

Backed by the Legendary Leatherman Warranty

Leatherman Tools are built to last, but if something does happen during normal use, every Leatherman is backed by their legendary 25 year warranty. If you need to start a warranty claim, simply visit the Leatherman Tools website and they'll be sure you're taken care of.

Built from Exceptionally High Quality Materials

Each Leatherman Tool is manufactured from 100% high-grade stainless steel that is corrosion resistant. (With the exception of screw bits for the tool adapter, which are made of tool steel.) This makes these multi-tools tough and corrosion-resistant, and ensures knife blades will maintain a sharp cutting edge.
